Privacy Policy

Aoun helps you keep to your daily werds — the Quran, azkar, prayer times, and werd plans. This policy explains plainly what we collect, why, who we share it with, and how you delete it.

1) Who we are

The controller of your data is Rawahel, developer of the Aoun app (bundle id com.rawahel.aoun). For anything privacy-related, write to rawahel2026@gmail.com.

2) What we collect, and why

a. Account data

When you create an account we collect your email address and display name. If you use Sign in with Google or Sign in with Apple, we receive an account identifier and your email from that provider (which may be a relay address if you chose to hide it with Apple). Passwords are stored hashed by our hosting provider and are never visible to us.

Purpose: creating your account, signing you in, and restoring your progress on a new device.

b. Your werd and progress data

We store what is needed to track your progress: which werds you completed and on which dates, short quiz results, plans you enrolled in, pages you confirmed toward your khatma, and your streaks.

This describes your religious practice, and we treat it as sensitive data. It is used only to show your progress to you, and to show it to your group teacher if you join a group. Nothing else.

c. Your reflections (tadabbur)

Reflections you write on verses are saved to your account so they return when you change devices. They are private to you: your teacher cannot read them, no other user ever sees them, and they are never published anywhere inside or outside the app.

d. Groups (teachers and students)

If you join a group with an invite code, that group's teacher can see: your display name, which werds you completed and when, and your quiz results for the plan. They cannot see your email address, your location, or your reflections. You can leave a group at any time, which ends their view of your further progress.

e. Location

If you enable prayer times and grant location permission, we read your device coordinates to calculate prayer times.

• Coordinates are stored on your device only. They never reach our servers and are never linked to your account.
• Coordinates are sent to the third-party Aladhan API to compute the times. They are sent without your name, email, or any account identifier.
• The permission is entirely optional; declining it does not block the rest of the app, and you can revoke it any time in your device settings.

f. Notifications

Prayer notifications are scheduled locally on your device. They do not pass through our servers or any push-notification service.

g. Technical data while downloading

When you stream or download a recitation, a tafsir, or mushaf fonts, your device connects to the content servers directly, so those servers see your IP address and which files you requested — as happens when visiting any website. We keep no log of what you read or listen to.

h. What we never collect

• No contacts, photos, microphone, or camera.
• No advertising identifiers, tracking cookies, analytics, or crash-reporting SDKs.
• No tracking of your activity across other companies' apps or websites.

3) Legal basis for processing

• Performance of a contract: account and progress data — the app cannot function without them.
• Your explicit consent: location, notifications, religious-practice data, and joining a teacher's group. You may withdraw consent at any time.
• Legitimate interests: protecting the service from abuse and answering your support messages.

4) Who we share data with

We do not sell your data or share it for marketing. We use the following processors solely to operate the app:

We may also disclose data where required by applicable law or a valid legal order. A very small number of Rawahel staff can access account data strictly when operationally necessary (for example, investigating a reported bug), and are bound by confidentiality.

5) International transfers

The processors above may operate servers outside your country. Where required, transfers rely on approved safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses, or on your consent.

6) Retention

• Account, progress, and reflection data: kept for as long as your account exists.
• On account deletion: removed from our servers immediately, and the local copy on your device is wiped.
• Support emails: kept up to 24 months so we can refer back if an issue recurs.
• Hosting-provider backups: residual copies may persist up to 30 days before being rotated out automatically.

7) Your rights

At any time you may request to access your data, correct it, delete it, obtain a portable copy, object to processing, or withdraw consent (without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal).

Write to rawahel2026@gmail.com and we respond within 30 days. If you are covered by the Saudi Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) or the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you also have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority in your country.

8) Deleting your account and data

You can delete it from inside the app: Settings → Account → "Delete my account". This removes your account and everything tied to it — progress, reflections, and group memberships — and wipes the copy stored on your device. What gets erased is detailed on the account deletion page, and you may also email us to have it done for you.

9) Security

Traffic between the app and our servers is fully encrypted (TLS), and data is encrypted at rest by our hosting provider. We enforce Row Level Security so each user can reach only their own data, and a teacher can reach only the progress they are authorised to see for students in their group. That said, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10) Children

The app is for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If a parent or guardian learns their child has created an account, please contact us and we will delete the account and its data.

11) Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app's features change. The last-updated date appears at the top of this page, and we will notify you inside the app if a change is material.
